faith sustains us

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

~Hebrews 11:1-6 NKJV

Faith sustains us when nothing else does. This life is hard, almost impossible at times. Faith can give peace that passes all understanding. In this salty and sweet life, things happen to us and around us that are really difficult to process. We lose loved ones and we can’t stop it. We watch others, here and abroad, suffer in a variety of hardships. A helplessness and a bitterness can easily seep into our hearts and minds.

We serve a God big enough to handle our questioning and even our doubt. Our frustration. Our sadness. Even our anger. I hope that the blog posts here on Sweet Potato Py encourage you in your faith and in your walk with God. God can handle it when we can’t. Cast your cares on Him. Rest in the fact that you don’t know everything. We aren’t supposed to know everything, control everything, fix everything, be everything.

The purpose God creates us for is uniquely our own. He does not create us for every purpose. Sometimes we pile things on ourselves, or hold onto things, and by the time we realize we are already stuck it’s hard to climb our way back out. Remember to follow the prompting in your spirit, lean in, pray, and trust. God has a plan just for you and even when we feel alone, He is still there. I hope to remind you, as you read the articles on this site, that faith sustains us through every season.

Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.
