I Thee Wed For Better For Worse

Sharing is caring!

I Thee Wed

“For this cause shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.”

Ephesians 5: 31-32

I Thee Wed

How many of us have stood

in flowing dresses of white

brimming with love and happiness

every detail planned just right

in front of a church or some special place

surrounded by those we love

pledging our lives, giving our hearts

an exciting adventure, a brand new start

 for better, for worse

for richer, for poorer

in sickness and in health

we say the words before we know them

hope to withstand any cards we are dealt

To love and to cherish

is not always easy

things don’t go as we plan

a thousand tiny moments

of being loved

grow roots deep

with foundations that will stand

When life’s trials bring us shadows,

questioning, hardship, and doubt

we will stand on the promises

we will keep believing in our story

I Thee Wed

“If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

1 Corinthians 13: 2-7
I Thee Wed

“Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

Mark 10:9
