Selfie Obsession
At some point our society became obsessed with taking selfies. Did you know there is even a National Selfie Day? I’m serious. It’s June 21st. On iPhone there’s a whole category for selfies in your albums. Some of us like to make fun of other people for their selfie expressions. Maybe you make memes about selfies. Some of us spend way too much time trying to take the perfect selfie. Some of us bought actual equipment, like selfie sticks, to perfect the craft. We basically went selfie crazy. Reports say that some people take 8 or more selfies per day, and that each of us will take 25,000 selfies during our lifetime (Mashable).
You Gotta Take the Selfies
You gotta take the selfies, even if you feel silly. It doesn’t matter if you look crazy. Don’t worry if your hair is a mess. Sometimes we worry over how we look and no one else really cares or notices. The people that matter most only concern themselves with who you are anyway. Life is more important than perfect hair and clothes. Don’t wait until you lose 15 pounds to take the picture. When you look back on the photos a few years from now you will be so glad that you took that second to push the button. You gotta celebrate yourself sometimes!
Special Moments & People
As my mom has said, if you wait for the perfect moment it will never come. Take all the photos. They show you lived and lived well. They remind us of special moments, funny times, and the people we love more than anything else in the whole world. When my oldest daughter goes to visit friends, her sisters and I take selfies in her room and send them to her with a message like “We miss you so much.” I overdo it and pretend I’m sleeping in her bed and send those selfies too. I would insert a laughing emoji here if I knew how.
Selfies with your favorite people become priceless pictures. Sometimes they become memories for people you wish were still next to you. When you get a chance, push the button. Take the selfie!
Awwwwww; Priceless!! I Love all your photos! Pictures makes us smile, laugh, and sometimes cry, but they’re proof of lives well lived!! ❤️
