Splash into Summer with H2OBX

Sharing is caring!

Splash into Summer with H2OBX! There is no better time to start planning your trip! Our first trip to the waterpark did not disappoint. We have driven by H2OBX so many times on our way to the beach, but never stopped in. We recently celebrated my daughter’s 6th birthday there and although there are over 30 attractions, we spent almost all of our time in the kids zone. Osprey Landing was definitely a favorite with 3 lanes for kids to race down. The lazy river, also known as Teach’s Tides Adventure River, was also great for everyone. You can relax for 1,000 feet as you float. If you don’t like water spraying in your face, this lazy river is set up so that you can easily avoid that. My middle daughter really appreciated this!

Park Details

The park is open each day from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. For 2022, the park opens at the end of May and remains open through August 28th. You can also visit select days in September (3rd-5th and the 10th-11th).

There was tons of parking and the park was not crowded when we visited. The atmosphere was very laid back and relaxed. The kids section entertained our younger girls all day long. The older kids also found plenty to do on the larger waterslides. A visit to H20BX will be worth the cost. Plan to stay all day and enjoy yourself!

Food…Yum!

Plan to eat in the park. From fish tacos to chicken tenders, funnel cakes, milkshakes and more, the food options are really great. You have these choices: Outer Banks Eats, Heavenly Hawgs BBQ, Flyboys Bar, Dune Devil Desserts, and Outer Franks. I recommend the loaded BBQ nachos from Heavenly Hawgs – choose pulled pork or chicken. The staff members at Heavenly Hawgs were a lot of fun. Apparently my personality is “spicy” like the nachos. I enjoyed chatting and laughing with them and as I was walking away I realized they had fried pickles….noted for the next visit!

No outside food or snacks are allowed in the park, but you can bring an unopened 20 oz. bottle of water per guest or an empty reusable water bottle (no glass). I didn’t realize this before and in this summer heat, I felt it was important to note! Baby food is allowed, as well as formula and milk, but it has to be in plastic containers.

Cleanliness

The water wasn’t the only thing that was sparkling at H2OBX! I was very impressed at how clean the bathrooms were throughout the park. Food areas, and the park in general, were also very well maintained.

Don’t Forget to Pack…

Water shoes! Of course I remembered sunscreen (even though I never put it on frequently enough) and towels but I never think about water shoes for the kids. The cement was very hot so water shoes would have been great. Our youngest also managed to scrape two of her toes somehow while we were there so water shoes would have prevented that as well. You can wear your flip flops of course, but they aren’t allowed on rides.

Life jackets are provided at no cost. You can bring your own life jacket if you prefer but it is important to know that it will need to say “coast guard certified.” The goal is simply to keep guests safe, and we found the provided life jackets quite wonderful.

Special Considerations at H2OBX

H20BX encourages guests who have a disability or special need to contact them in advance so that they can prepare to assist you to the best of their ability. They also offer complimentary admission to caretakers of guests with a disability. This is fantastic!

The park is handicap accessible with wide entrances. The H2OBX website states, “Wheelchairs, motorized wheelchairs, and service animals are welcome at H20BX Waterpark.” It’s important to note service animals are dogs only and wheelchairs are not provided by the park. Also, there is a very convenient drop-off and pick-up area by the front entrance.

The park offers day tickets or season passes, as well as lockers and lots of cabana rentals.

Start Splashing into Summer!

We hope you and your family have a great time at H20BX just like we did. We had so much fun and wish we had visited sooner. The kids are already asking to return. The employees we encountered at the park were all friendly and attentive. Don’t keep driving by – stop in as soon as you can! Splash into Summer with H2OBX!
